John K. Czerwein Jr., MD, specializes in the treatment of orthopaedic spinal disorders in adult and adolescent patients. Treating all disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Dr. Czerwein takes great care in providing each patient with an individual treatment plan with the goal of restoring function and the return to an active and healthy life. Plans may include conservative non-operative treatments such as physical therapy or cortisone injections as well as surgical options.

Dr. Czerwein is one of the only spine surgeons specializing in minimally invasive surgical procedures in the region.

Dr. Czerwein attended college at Providence College before completing his medical degree at The Chicago Medical School in Northern Chicago, IL. Dr. Czerwein finished his orthopaedic internship and residency at Albert Einstein University-Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. He furthered his education and training with a Spine Fellowship at Brown University Alpert Medical School/University Orthopedics at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I.

On the personal side, Dr. Czerwein and his wife Melissa, reside in Northern Rhode Island with four children. In his free time, Dr. Czerwein is a foodie and enjoys traveling for food and pleasure as well as snowboarding, triathlons, exercising and is an avid outdoorsman.
